Drones are now being used to capture licence plate data. The use of an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system combined with a drone is one way to identify cars and their owners without having an officer physically stop them.

Drones offer a much more efficient way of capturing vehicle data this since they don’t require an officer or ground patrol car to be present at all times. Drones equipped with an ALPR system allow law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to track down stolen cars and violators without having to drive around a vehicle.

A common issue with drone-based systems is compatibility. There are so many drone models and manufacturers that ANPR technology needs to be hardware agnostic. The team at Aero Ranger solved this issue by allowing users to connect any drone camera via a simple HDMI connection or via IP video stream.
